Loc. 4.4, Smoking Quarry proper, A .fecunda level (beds 110-121) (Silurian of Czech Republic)
Where: Czech Republic (50.0° N, 14.2° E: paleocoordinates 48.3° S, 54.9° E)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Ananaspis fecunda zone, Kopanina Formation, Ludfordian (421.3 - 418.7 Ma)
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: marine; shelly/skeletal, gray lime mudstone and gray, calcareous shale
• "...250 cm of monotonous dark-grey biomicritic limestones with crinoidal detritus, alternating with brownish-grey calcareous shales...Yet higher, the sequence is developed as yellow-brown, locally pinkish, irregularly bedded dolomites which correspond with the Prionopeltis archiaci horizon and most of the Pridoli...AT the base of the Ananaspis fecunda horizon a sharp increase in depth is documented by the change from bioclastic Lsts to micritic Lst with bioclasts and shale intercalations. This change can be traced throughout the Prague Basin and was named by Chlupac and Kukal (1988) as the Upper Kopanina Event."
